Hospital de St. Pau / Segrada Familia

Today we spent the day at the Hospital de St. Pau / and the Sagrada Familia Church in Barcelona, Spain. The hospital is amazing, and covers 9 square blocks  If you ever make a trip to Barcelona, a tour of the hospital should be on your short list. I have only included one picture of the hospital in this blog. The picture is the entrance to the hospital. Behind the entrance are several buildings that housed sick patients and surgical rooms. The hospital covers 9 blocks. The 4 pillars you see on the front of the building stand for Faith, Hope, Charity and Work. The same pillars appear on the Sagrada Familia.   This fabulous hospital was built to care for the poor of Barcelona.

I have included 3 photos from the Sagrada Familia Church. The church is almost impossible to photograph. Any photo I was able to take cannot provide the magnitude and the majesty of the building; it is simply overwhelming.

The building of the church started in 1893 and is still under construction, no one really knows when it will be completed. The photos I have included in the blog simple cannot do justice to the amazing work of art.  Antoni Gaudi was a genius!

I hope you enjoy.
